| Sapiro-Gheiler and Wechsler are Presidential Scholar semifinalists Durham Academy seniors Eitan Sapiro-Gheiler and Caroline Wechsler are semifinalists in the 2015 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, which recognizes graduating high school seniors' academic and artistic accomplishments. Read More Preschoolers travel the globe at International Night celebration Preschoolers toured the world the evening of April 23, but their journey didn't require air or sea travel. They "visited" Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Antarctica and Oceania without ever leaving the Preschool. Freya Cohen, Preschool science teacher and division diversity coordinator, led a committee of 30 Preschool parents in transforming the classrooms into areas all across the globe. Read More Middle Schoolers exceed national average on National Latin Exam Durham Academy Middle School students scored well on the National Latin Exam, with 17 seventh-graders and 18 eighth-graders scoring above the national average — three of which were perfect scores. The 40-question, multiple-choice test includes questions about Latin grammar and translation, Roman culture, mythology, history and geography.
